Is a clinical assessment of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies. Passing the third part exam leads to membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (MRCOG), and remains the primary waypoint for trainees in the UK to move from basic training to higher training (ST6 and ST7).
The clinical assessment consists of 14 tasks, each task being based on one of the 14 units detailed in the curriculum. Each of the units of the third part is evaluated in the context of 5 areas:
-
- Patient safety.
- Communication with patients and their relatives.
- Communication with colleagues.
- Data collection.
- Applied clinical knowledge.
Each of the 14 assignments will assess between three to four areas to reflect daily clinical practice.
